Artful Angel June Sketch Challenge - C.C. Designs Birthday Critters

Hello friends!  Can you believe that it is June already?  I can't!  Today, I am so excited to share this fun card that I created to play along with the June Sketch Challenge over in the Artful Angel Takes Flight Facebook Group!   This month, DT Dalis is hosting the challenge.

I was so excited to play along with this and I knew that the C.C. Designs Birthday Critters Stamp Set (available in the Artful Angel Shop) would be PERFECT!  These happy little critters were so much fun to color up with my Copic markers (colors listed below).  Once I finished coloring, I cut him out and set the image aside.
This is the June Sketch, created by @pagemaps.

Measurements;

5 1/2" x 8 1/2" base of Neenah Solar White card stock, scored at 4 1/4"

5" x 3 3/4", 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" and 1" x 3 1/2" panels of Granny Apple Green card stock

 4" x 3 1/2" panel of printed paper

5 1/2" x 1 1/2" strip of Melon Mambo card stock

3" x 3" piece of white card stock

I heat embossed my sentiment and die-cut the banner using the Kindred Stamps Card Basics Dies.  I cut a scalloped circle and a stitched circle using my trusty Circle Dies from C.C. Designs (also available in the Artful Angel Shop).
I wrapped the hot pink strip in metallic thread and began to assemble my card.  Once I had all of my layers adhered, I added my colored image and a bow to the front.  I just love how bright and cheerful this card is!
Colors Used:
Dog - E18, E15, E13
Hat and Ribbon - RV09, RV06, RV04

Artful Angel Sketch Challenge With a Twist - May, 2022

Hellooooo friends!  Happy Hump Day!  So glad the week is halfway over!  I hope your week is going well.  Today, I am sharing a card that I made for the Artful Angel May Sketch Challenge - With a Twist!  DT Dalis is hosting this month's challenge and she added a twist - use the sketch or create your own background.  I did both!

For this card, I created a background with alcohol inks.  I used black alcohol ink and added in some gold metallic mixative.  I have found that the metallics don't get a ton of movement, and so had to be careful with it.  I was really happy with the result.
I die-cut my sentiment out of black cardstock using a Pink & Main die that I had in my stash.  I adhered the background panel to a black panel and attached them to a white card panel.  I finished off the card with a sheer black bow.
Thanks to Dalis for hosting this super fun challenge and motivating me to use my alcohol inks.  Please make sure to join us in the Artful Angel Takes Flight Facebook Group and check out the inspiration.  It's super easy to join in on the challenge, and there is a prize, blog badge, and bragging rights up for grabs!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

It's another Kim and Kim Challenge - All White + 1 Color

Hi friends!  My friend, Kim (@canterburycarddesigns) and I are back with another card that we created.  She and I decided to do a friendly challenge to spur each other on to get creating... though, now that I think about it, I am not sure challenge is really the right word, but we will stick with it!

This time, Kim (the other one) picked the parameters, and she decided on All White (WHAT?!?!?!) and I talked her into allowing one additional color!   Have I mentioned that I really, really struggle with white space?

Anyhow, this was actually a really fun, simple card to create.  I can't believe just how beautiful it turned out!

For my card, I used the Altenew Craft Your Life Project Kit:  Never Stop Dreaming.  It is absolutely beautiful!  I dry embossed a white panel using the 3D embossing folder and layered it over silver card stock.  I die-cut the center piece using the coordinating dies and embossed my sentiment in silver.  I popped the center piece up with foam squares and VOILA!  This will make a perfect wedding card.
Please make sure to pop on over and visit Kim's blog to see her creation and give her some love!

Artful Angel Sketch Challenge - April 2022

Hi friends!  I wanted to pop back in to share my take on the April 2022 Sketch Challenge over in the Artful Angel Facebook Group!

We started with a sketch that I found on Pinterest by Mojo Monday.   Mojo Monday is not active anymore; however, the creator, Julie Tillman, is still publishing challenges on her own blog - Poetic Artistry.

To create my card, I wanted a monochromatic card, with just a pop of color to catch the eye.  I started with the cute little plant image that I already had colored up from a previous project.  This is from the Gerda Steiner Grow Happiness stamp set.  I knew that this image would be perfect for the circle elements, which I once again used the C.C. Designs Circle Dies to die-cut.
The biggest challenge for me was deciding on multiple patterned papers to use.  This was a struggle, as I have a hard time mixing patterns together; however, I have to say that I really do love the effect.  The patterned papers that I used were from a pad in my stash from Reverse Confetti.
Once I was happy with my layout, I adhered all of the layers to the card base, added a loopy bow of metallic silver thread, and a die-cut sentiment from Altenew.
I hope that you will join us over in the Artful Angel Takes Flight Facebook Group for this month's challenge!   Did I remember to mention that there are prizes up for grabs?

Over The Threshold - Polkadoodles Craft Challenge Week 7

Good morning, crafty friends!  It is Friday, which means that we have an all-new Anything Goes Challenge up on the Polkadoodles Blog!

This week, the Design Team was challenged to create a Valentine's Day Card, so I decided to color up the darling Over the Threshold digi from the Work & Play Love & Kisses Collection using a combination of my Copic and Stampin' Up markers.   Now, I know that this is a bride and groom, but why can't it be used for a hot date on Valentine's Day?  💓

There are so many great papers in this collection that I wanted to make use of, but I decided to focus on two, with an accent color to match

To create my card, I used lots of layers, beginning with a kraft card base and a few of the digital papers from the collection, each layered over kraft cardstock, with the exception of my largest layer - I used Stampin' Up Pool Party for that layer.

I used the "Together Always" sentiment from the collection, along with a few of the digital embellishments.  Lastly, I used some Stampin' Up Pool Party ribbon to tie it all together.

I hope you are inspired to spend some time getting crafty!  Please hop over to the challenge blog and share your project with us!  Remember, it is Anything Goes, so there are no requirements!  If you enter the challenge, you may just win a prize!

As always, thank you so much for stopping by!  Please leave me a comment and let me know if you made any cards for Valentine's Day!

XOXO, Kim

Darling Buds - Crocus - Polkadoodles Craft Challenge Week 5

Hi friends!   Happy Friday!  Know what my favorite thing is about Friday?  It means that there is a new Anything Goes Challenge up on the Polkadoodles blog!

This week, the challenge for the DT was to create a card using The Darling Buds collection that says, “Spring is Coming!”   So far, we have had a pretty rough winter (weather-wise), so I was happy to create a bright, cheerful card that will serve as a reminder that spring is on the way.

Where I live, in late winter, I begin to watch for the first signs that the crocus is poking its head up out of the ground, as that lets us know that spring is just around the corner.  It made perfect sense to me to use this gorgeous Crocus image from the Darling Buds collection!

I really loved coloring this beautiful digi with my Copics!  I really wanted vibrant colors to shake off some of the winter blues!  I kept my card very simple so that the stamp would be the focal point, and I am so happy with how it turned out!

I really hope that you will hop over to the blog and check out all of the amazing work by the rest of the design team!  While you are there, share what you are working on, and you could win a prize!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Guest Designer - Make the Cards Challenge #44

Good morning, friends!  There is a new challenge up over at Make the Cards Challenge and this week is all about WINTER!

I was so excited for this challenge week, as I knew I wanted to create a blustery shaker card... Where I live, I saw my first few snowflakes this week.  Of course, nothing stuck around, as it is still slightly too warm, but soon!

For my card, I used the Lawn Fawn Peppermint Stripes Backdrop Die and backed it with a sheet of acetate.  I also adhered a panel of Stampin' Up Feels Like Frost DSP (possibly retired) to the front of my card base.  I used foam adhesive strips to build up the back of my shaker window.  I used the strips, rather than my roll of foam tape because it is much thinner and didn't result in ragged ends from cutting the tape.

I created my own shaker mix using an assortment of chunky glitter and slices that I purchased from my local Michael's and adhered my shaker window to my card base.

I die-cut the fabulous Giant Let It Snow Die from Lawn Fawn twice and glued the pieces together.  I also die-cut an assortment of snowflakes using two sets of retired snowflake dies from Stampin' Up.  I painted some shimmer on all of my die-cut elements using my Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen and then adhered them to my card front.

For a really quick and easy card to put together, it is absolutely stunning and represents all of the things I love about winter!

Please make sure to join us over at Make the Cards Challenge and tag us in all of your social media posts using #mtcc, #mtcc44, and #makethecardschallenge!

Winnie North Pole Christmas Candy - Polkadoodles Craft Challenge

Hi friends!  I am so excited to share that I have joined the Polkadoodles Design Team and today I am sharing my first DT project!

Today's theme for the Design Team over at the Cardmaking and Crafting Challenge was

Christmas/Winnie/Make a Card that Moves

Make sure to pop over to the Polkadoodles Blog to check out all of the challenge details and see what amazing creations the Design Team has for you.

For my card that moves, I decided to keep it simple with a wobbler, and let Winnie be the star of the show!

To start, I colored Christmas Candy - Winnie with my Copic markers and cut the image out.  I used several digital papers, a sentiment and embellishments from the Work & Play 5 - Festive Hollybobs. Collection.

The colors that I used really gave me a vintage vibe, so to make my layers stand out and add a little vintage distressing, I inked up the edges using Distress Oxide Ink in Vintage Photo.

To create my wobbler, I wound a piece of wire around a pencil about 6 times and used a 1/2" circle punch to create a base for the wobbler mechanism.  Once I had the mechanism together, I adhered the wobbly heart to my card front.

Please make sure to come over and check out the challenge, maybe join in and play along with us!  There are some awesome prizes up for grabs!

As always, thank you so much for popping by!

Guest Designer - Make the Cards Challenge #35

Hi crafty friends!  I am so excited to share my second card as a Guest Designer with Make the Cards Challenge.

The theme for this challenge is Country Life + Buffalo Plaid.  When I saw the theme, I knew exactly what I wanted to create.

I pulled out my trusty Buffalo Plaid Background Stamp and inked it up with Black ink to make my own background.
I then inked up the milk jug and floral arrangement from Honey Bee Stamps Farm Fresh Stamp Set and colored it with my Copics.  I love that this set was designed by the amazing Emily Midgett.  If you are not familiar with her work, check her out!
I die-cut my images, and also die-cut the Blessed sentiment, also from Honey Bee Stamps.
I truly love everything about this card!    I think it represents who I am and what I love!
I hope you will join us over at Make the Cards Challenge!
Thanks for stopping by!  Xo, Kim
