Good morning, friends! C.C. Designs is our generous sponsor this week over at Passionate Paper Creations and Friends. I had fun creating this water feature cards using the new Mermaid Inchies Stamp Set.
I colored these little cuties with Copic markers (colors listed below), cut them out and set them aside. Years ago, my partner in crafty crime (
@carrieluvscards) showed me how to create a fun water feature using hair gel, and I wanted to try to recreate that.
We used to use Ziploc bags; however, I was afraid of it leaking, so I used my FoodSaver and cut apart a bag to remove the textured side, and I sealed three sides. I added a mixture of different glitters and then added a few tablespoons of hair gel. I smooshed it all together to mix the glitter in, and then I sealed the final edge and trimmed them all down.
I ink blended a background using Distress Oxides (Peacock Feathers, Wilted Violet, and Picked Raspberries) and I die-cut the three circles from a piece of Stampin' Up Bermuda Bay Card Stock. I used the remaining ink on my blending tool to add ink to the edges of the panel and the circles. It adds a fun touch, as it is a combination of the teal, pink and purple. I then adhered the layers together using very sticky adhesive.
I then started adding my mermaids, seahorses and sentiment to the front of the card. This was a really fun technique to revisit and I think I will use it again!
