Good morning, crafty friends! I have been MIA for a bit, sorry about that! It has been a rough few weeks! I am excited to be back in the saddle and I will be sharing a few really fun projects with you.
I recently purchased the Pull and Slide Dies from Kindred Stamps and went to search the interweb for a video on how to use it. The amazing Bri Firth provided a video tutorial that was so easy to follow and she had also made this gorgeous card using the Journey Home Stamp Set (also from Kindred Stamps). I had to recreate it.
I started by creating a background panel using Tim Holtz Distress White Heavystock, Distress Oxide Inks, and a spray bottle of water. (NOTE: I tried this technique using Neenah Solar White and it didn't work well.) I smooshed my inks on to my craft mat, sprayed them liberally with water, and smooshed the card stock into the wet ink. I dried it using my heat tool, and repeated until I was happy with the coverage.
Once my panel was dry, I added metallic ink splatters and set it aside.
I did not have a lot of the supplies that Bri used, so I took some artistic liberties and got creative with gel pens. I die-cut a circle of vellum and added some Distress Oxide Ink and ink splatters to it. I then used a white gel pen to add details to both the vellum circle and the background.
I stamped, colored and fussy cut my main image, again adding details with a gel pen, and then I heat embossed my sentiment and die-cut it.
I die-cut all of the pieces for my pull and slide mechanism and assembled them. Once that was complete, I put the remainder of my card together.
I love EVERYTHING about this card! It will be finding its way to its new home today and I hope it brings a smile to the face of its recipient!
